The Durban Bowling Club: A Berea institution since 1903
For more than 120 years, the Durban Bowling Club has been a pillar of the Berea community. Founded in 1903, our club has welcomed generations of residents, offering a vibrant hub for sport, socialising, and community events.
A rich history on the greens
We are one of South Africa's oldest bowling clubs, with a rich history documented in photographic records dating back to a grand opening in 1905. While many other historical clubs in the Durban area have unfortunately closed their doors, the Durban Bowling Club has stood the test of time and remains a thriving and active hub for players of all levels.
More than just lawn bowls
While our roots are in the traditional game of lawn bowls, the club has evolved to offer a variety of activities that cater to a wide audience. Our green remains the heart of the club, but we have also embraced new sports.
- Lawn bowls: Whether you're an experienced player or a complete novice, our greens are open to all. We offer a welcoming and social atmosphere, with free coaching and a full month's introductory play for new members.
- Padel tennis: In a nod to the modern era of sport, we have added new padel tennis courts, adding a fast-paced, contemporary game to our facilities. We are proud to host local league matches and invite players of all skill levels to join in the fun.
